Welcome to James Allen’s Saturday School for the Performing Arts
- home to South London Youth Orchestra

Jasspa is a school passionate about the performing arts. On term-time Saturdays we offer specialist music tuition in a friendly and vibrant atmosphere in Dulwich.  Pupils aged 6-18 can choose any combination of classes from instrumental lessons, graded theory, composition, ensembles, chamber music and choirs including our Community Choir for adults and teens. Students can build a personalised programme that suits their interests and helps them to develop into well rounded musicians. Currently 325 pupils attend Jasspa, from more than 70 schools across South London.

Jasspa is also the home of South London Youth Orchestra – four orchestras from beginner to advanced level and a cello choir for intermediate players. SLYO meets three times a year in the major school holidays when 300+ music students from across London and the South East come together to work with outstanding tutors and conductors from the profession. New for 2025: a Concert Band for Grade 4-7 wind, brass and percussion students. Register your interest in our new Concert Band by emailing us at jasspa.slyo@jags.org.uk; bookings for our first course April 25 will go live in September!

Since covid, we have moved our dance and drama tuition to Dance and Drama holiday intensives.

All courses take place at James Allen’s Girls’ School where we have full access to purpose built facilities including the Prissian Theatre, Vaughan Williams Auditorium and Holst Hall.

Whilst Jasspa is an organisation with the community very much at its heart, we are also a centre of excellence. Quality performing arts education in a positive, nurturing environment is what we do best!

I look forward to welcoming you to Jasspa soon.
