How to Join
SLYO welcomes new members but is also keen to encourage existing pupils to return regularly as this has obvious musical and social benefits.
Bookings are taken for one course at a time, so after each course we accept applications for our next course. The application process for each course is staggered in two stages firstly accepting current pupils, then past members and new pupils. There is usually a two week delay between the two stages. So for a Winter course, pupils who attended the previous Summer course will be invited to sign up first in early September, while past members and new pupils will receive invitations in late-September.
If you are looking at SLYO for the first time this application process may sound complicated but please do not be deterred! We have a really good balance of returning and new pupils on every SLYO course and new members are very welcome.
SLYO Enquiry
To register interest in SLYO 2, 3, 4, Concert Band or Cello Choir please email jasspa.slyo@jags.org.uk with your child's age, instrument and approximate level. This will ensure you are signed up to our mailing list and will receive future course information including application forms when our course bookings next re-open.
If there is a space at the point of your enquiry we will invite you to complete an application form (which will also include you getting a short recommendation from your child's teacher). We are however a small team at SLYO so you may not hear back from us immediately. We aim to respond to all enquiries as soon as possible and process applications in order of receipt.
